Why the change? βWe wanted a name that truly evokes the feeling of what we do,β said Amanda E. History Comes Alive at Alcove RI in Providence
History shines brighter when everyoneβs story is told, and thanks to Alcove RI, Rhode Island now has a place dedicated to making that possible. Opening Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 189 Broadway, Alcove RI will debut as the stateβs first feminist cultural center, creating a haven for women and gender expansive people to connect, recharge, and celebrate. The newly renovated space is designed with purpose. The first floor welcomes the public, while the second floor, called the Haven, is reserved for members seeking community and respite. Membership perks pair with public programs, all supported by an accessible pricing model that includes need-based scholarships.
