Arrival
Our main entrance is accessible via a paved ramp from the parking area. Please contact staff if you need assistance with the entrance door.Elevator
Our elevator provides access between the first floor (Portrait Gallery, Biographical Library, and Patio) and second floor (Haven, Terrace, Book Club Room, and Board Room). The elevator features braille buttons, an audible chime, and an emergency communication system. Members may also use the interior stairs to access the second floor.General Assistance
The Alcove staff are available to provide assistance as needed. Please call 401-443-3347 to request help in advance of your visit or speak with any staff member during your visit.Parking
The Alcove has two parking spaces in our dedicated lot, including one accessible parking space. The lot is paved with direct access to our building entrance via a ramp. Visitors may also drop off directly in front of the building entrance.Additional neighborhood and street parking is available, but may be limited. Parking in the neighboring lot at 201 Broadway is prohibited and may result in towing.
The closest paid parking lots are at 280 Broadway and 107 Federal Street, both approximately a 4 minute walk to The Alcove.

Animals
Pets are not permitted in The Alcove's spaces (including our exterior patio and terrace). Service animals as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act are welcome. Pets may not be left unattended within 25 feet of the building.Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning (HVAC)
Our HVAC system includes MERV filters and UV air purifiers, which keeps the indoor air clean, while the ERV system brings in fresh air. This filtration is often used in hospitals to maintain good air quality.Masking
The Alcove is a judgment-free, mask-friendly space. Masking is not required, but we have a limited number of N-95 masks available by request.Mobility Devices and Strollers
All areas of The Alcove are wheelchair accessible. Limited stroller storage is available in the front entrance area of the Portrait Gallery.Seating
The Alcove offers flexible seating arrangements with removable chairs to accommodate wheelchairs and mobility devices.Restrooms
The Alcove has two single-occupancy bathrooms available to on the first floor and one single-occupancy bathroom located on the second floor. One of the first floor bathrooms includes a changing table. -
Audio
Currently, our standard audio setup uses microphones for speakers. We recommend contacting us in advance if you have specific audio accessibility needs.Seating
Seating arrangements vary by event type. Most programs and talks include both seated and standing room options. Specific seating configurations depend on the nature of each event. Please contact us in advance if you have specific seating needs or accessibility requirements. -
Large Print
The Alcove offers large print copies of gallery text. Please ask a member of staff to assist you.Transcriptions
